Peter has a long history within the Mining and Hose Protection industries in Australia

1984 - 1996

  • Maintenance Contracting
  • Underground and surface drill specialists
  • Labour hire and full maintenance offering to drilling contractors

1989 -2009

  • Started Sprial Guard for hose protection within mining industry.

  • Peter expanded/developed the process from cutting pipe to 4 x extrusion-based production line.

  • Built and set up factory

  • Manufactured spiral wrap for Pirtek, Parker Hannifin and Terex

  • Sold the products across Australia as well as internationally (USA, UK, Africa, and Europe)

2011 -2020

  • Underground Maintenance fitter with Barminco and Mader Contracting while developing and testing firsthand the Hydra Shield and No Gap Wrap products we sell today.
  • Developed and tested firsthand the Hydra Shield and No Gap Wrap products we sell today

Hydraulic Shields is a family business with Peter and Jo-Anne May as majority owners, along with both their children and partners active workers and shareholders in the business, ensuring succession planning and longevity.
